GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the direction of a licensed nurse, assist with the daily care of residents.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization.

  1. Assist the residents with activities of daily living as necessary, including personal grooming, oral care, back care, foot care and peri-care, bathing, and toileting.
  2. Encourage self-esteem and self-care as appropriate.
  3. Provide the resident with a safe, comfortable, clean, and attractive environment. Maintain the residents personal belongings in a neat and clean manner.
  4. Establish caring relationships with the residents and their families by recognizing the spiritual and emotional needs of the residents and providing appropriate support.
  5. Observe record and report using policies, general and specific physical and mental conditions of residents.
  6. Take and record temperature, pulse and blood pressure, height, and weight per established guidelines.
  7. Assist residents in choosing menus and distribute meals and refreshments as necessary. Record nutritional intake of residents.
  8. Assist residents by providing minor treatments, including hot or cold packs, enemas, applying lotions, and giving massages.
  9. Assist with rehabilitation of residents according to their care plans.
  10. Assist with orientation of new personnel.
  11. All staff is always required to follow all safety regulations and precautions.
  12. Staff must ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
  13. Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager
  14. Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs
  15. All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e. working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
  16. All Staff are required to participate in the Person-Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in assisting in participating in Person Centered Care.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Arizona is required.
