GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the direction of a licensed nurse, assist with the daily care of residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization.
- Assist the residents with activities of daily living as necessary, including personal grooming, oral care, back care, foot care and peri-care, bathing, and toileting.
- Encourage self-esteem and self-care as appropriate.
- Provide the resident with a safe, comfortable, clean, and attractive environment. Maintain the residents personal belongings in a neat and clean manner.
- Establish caring relationships with the residents and their families by recognizing the spiritual and emotional needs of the residents and providing appropriate support.
- Observe record and report using policies, general and specific physical and mental conditions of residents.
- Take and record temperature, pulse and blood pressure, height, and weight per established guidelines.
- Assist residents in choosing menus and distribute meals and refreshments as necessary. Record nutritional intake of residents.
- Assist residents by providing minor treatments, including hot or cold packs, enemas, applying lotions, and giving massages.
- Assist with rehabilitation of residents according to their care plans.
- Assist with orientation of new personnel.
- All staff is always required to follow all safety regulations and precautions.
- Staff must ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager
- Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs
- All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e. working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
- All Staff are required to participate in the Person-Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in assisting in participating in Person Centered Care.
QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Arizona is required.
