Responsible for providing a high degree of proficiency in the field of HVAC; is able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Position is a function of facilities management and receives instructions verbally; from work orders and from preventative maintenance instruction sheets.
Repairs and maintains HVAC/R systems and all supporting components.
Installs new HVAC/R equipment. Performs competent braising for closed/open loop repairs.
Identifies deficiencies proactively that compromise efficient equipment operation; repairs and replaces components as necessary.
Identifies air pressurization relationship deficiencies proactively and immediately reports issues to the Director of Facilities with proposed resolutions.
Utilizes proper lockout/tagout procedures.
Responds to all Dr. Red (fire) alarms. Removes all debris and material from work area upon job completion.
Uses time management in organizing and prioritizing workload to provide optimal service to the department and the network.
Identifies the location of fire pull-stations, hand-held fire extinguishers, and emergency power outlets for the specific environment.
Uses the proper tool for the job. Arrives at the job with all tools and materials required to properly perform the task.
Provides diagnosis and troubleshoots equipment problems efficiently including HHWS/CHWS
systems; repairs/replaces components as necessary.
Completes work in accordance to specific environment standards with minimal supervision.
Maintains inventories and supplies consistently and accurately.
Provides maintenance through the hospital s Planned Maintenance Program.
Adjusts components of the energy management system to ensure the most efficient operation without adversely affecting patient care or staff environment.
Maintains a constant 95% completion of preventive and/or corrective maintenance on assigned equipment.
Prioritizes work orders, i.e. life safety equipment, patient care etc, to ensure most critical projects are completed first or are completed in order of receipt.
Uses sound judgment in solving problems specific to work area.
Ensures that management approves material or equipment purchases.
Works with specific guidelines to ensure appropriate conditioning and circulation of air in specialized areas.
Coordinates with management to ensure that affected departments are given proper written notice of system shut down.
Maintains work order documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Assists in the training of new employees.Qualifications:
Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
Certificates Required: Must hold current Type 1 or Type 2 certification for refrigerant discharge as required by federal regulation 40CRF, part 82, Subpart F or ability to pass certification during probationary period.
Experience Required: Minimum five- (5) year s experience in commercial refrigeration equipment and/or heating equipment repair required; working as a journeyman.
Skills Required: Must be able to perform work from ladders and other high places; Must be able to work in confined or restricted spaces wearing protective equipment as required and be able to work in extreme indoor and outdoor conditions.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, electrical schematics, operating manuals and manufacturer s specifications
Required: Minimum one (1) year of experience with a computerized energy management/control system.
Other Required: Must possess normal color vision and normal or correctable hearing.
Must be able to transport self to off-site locations as required.
When using own vehicle must have valid Arizona drivers license and proof of insurance that meets the minimum standards of the state of Arizona.
