Controls Engineer I, II, III or IV
Salary: $5,190.08 - $9,686.17 Monthly Salary
*Salary will be dependent upon education and experience
Provide plant controls engineering support for plant operations, plant maintenance, and function as a project engineer for plant betterment projects assigned to the Apache station. Analyze the plant electrical/control systems and implement design or predictive maintenance programs to increase efficiency and reliability. Support IT assets used to power the control network. This includes regular maintenance as well as operating system configuration, control software installation, lease rollout, and networking support.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
- One or more years power plant experience or a related field.
- Experience budgeting, writing work scopes, and repair procedures, analyzing and evaluating turbine mechanical problems and performance and applying this expertise to the safe and effective management and direction of steam and gas turbine overhauls and repairs.
- Strong background in IT systems focusing on Microsoft® operating systems.
- Strong networking skills focusing on the Ethernet model that is used to support control systems communications.
- Effective oral and written communications skills.
This position is located at Arizona G&T Cooperatives Power Plant in Cochise, AZ.

About this company
We are Member-owned, not-for-profit electric generation and transmission (G&T) cooperatives. Working together, our employees fulfill the joint mission of providing reliable, affordable power to electric coops across the Southwest.
Arizona G&T Cooperatives provide power to more than 160,000 electric meters and 400,000 people in Arizona, California and New Mexico through six Class A Member distribution cooperatives. One of 63 G&T electric coops in the nation, we own and operate Apache Generating Station near Cochise, east of Benson. The plant has a combined gross generating capacity of 605 megawatts. We also purchase power to meet member energy needs during peak summer energy use.
Our transmission system operates and maintains more than 622 miles of electric power transmission line and 27 substations reaching out from our Apache Generating Station, across Arizona to the northwestern corner of the state. We also operate more than 30 telecommunications towers used for phone and data relay services by our member cooperatives and customers.
On March 1, 2016, Southwest Transmission Cooperative merged into Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO).
